Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity conducted its final 2016 Scaling Competition Information workshop at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) institute in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday, 20 May 2016.

This two-hour session enabled our expert to engage with registrants and interested potential applicants in the private sector seeking support for their tried and tested financial products and/or services that have potential for scaling up. More than twelve representatives from various private sector organizations in Southern Africa region participated in this informative session.

During the workshop, Wambui Chege, the Team Leader of the Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity took the attendees through a detailed presentation. She discussed about the success of the inaugural 2015 Innovation and Scaling Competitions, the 2015 winners, how companies can apply for support as well as the eligibility criteria of the 2016 Scaling Competition. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session.

The 2016 Scaling Competition launched on 14 April 2016 and will close on 10 June 2016. For-Profit, commercial organizations with innovative ideas that have the potential to scale up, and that could also have a deep social impact on the lives of rural poor people in Sub-Saharan Africa, are encouraged to visit www.frp.org to register and apply for support.
