IMPACT STUDIES

To assess the kind of impact being made by some of the Fund participants, a number of impact verification studies have been conducted over 2021 and 2022 and are summarised in this report.

Seven Fund participants were shortlisted for this activity based on their diverse business models, self-reported impacts being made on their beneficiaries and on their geographies. Those selected for the individual studies were Apollo Agriculture, Easy Solar, Stewards Globe, Ibero Uganda, FutureLink Technologies, Farmerline and Musoni Microfinance. Various members of the Fund team were involved in the studies led by the monitoring, evaluation and learning and partners Triple Line Consulting.

In each participant case summarised here, the study looked into six key areas:

  • How the customer profile of the participant company aligned to the Fund target group (rural, income constrained individuals).
  • Whether the income of the beneficiaries had increased as a result of the Fund intervention.
  • Whether direct or indirect job creation was occurring as a result of the Fund intervention.
  • What levels of customer (beneficiary) satisfaction levels there were with the participant product or service offered as a result of the Fund intervention.
  • Whether the participant project had indeed resulted in more financial inclusion or not.
  • How Covid-19 had impacted and overall resilience.
